Metsi Chem International (Pty) Ltd is today a Black Empowerment Enterprise, wholly owned by black shareholders. It arose from Metsi Chem (Pty) Ltd which was founded in 2001 when Mr Moses Maphosho, a former NCP Chlorchem employee, and five NCP Chlorchem regional distributors joined forces.
A restructuring took place in 2005 when Metsi Chem Gauteng (Pty) Ltd was formed. This entity soon changed its name to Metsi Chem International (Pty) Ltd, as it was trading outside of South Africa’s borders.
The traditional business has been to trade in water purification / treatment chemicals and associated equipment and services. Initially the main area of operation was the distribution of the NCP Chlorchem range of products, but this has been expanded to include other primary producers.
The main areas in which Metsi Chem International is active are as follows;
- Free State
- North West Province
- Botswana and Lesotho
- And more recently, Limpopo, Northern Cape and Kwa-Zulu Natal.
The entities served are typically Municipalities and similar organisations, though many non-public authority entities appear on Metsi Chem International’s customer list.
